Summer Sunshine - A Vintage Look
Give your photos a little makeover with a vintage twist! By using a few adjustments layers and blending modes, you can have that vintage look in minutes!
Let's Get Started!
Step One –
Open up your photo into Photoshop. We’re going to start with a black and white conversion and one of my favorite methods to do this is the Channel Mixer. Click on the black and white circle at the bottom of your layers palette and select Channel Mixer. This is going to create an adjustment layer for us to work with. If you don’t me yet, I love to work with adjustment layers! They are so easy to use and if you don’t like the effect, all you have to do is delete the layer and start again!
Now that we have our channel mixer window up, find the Preset drop-down menu and select Black & White with Yellow Filter. There are many filters you can choose from, just experiment and find the one that goes best with your photo. I find that I like the orange, red and yellow filters the best! Click OK.

Step Two –
Next, we’re going to set the blending mode to Screen and the Opacity to 70%. This is one my favorite ways to get light, creamy skin! It’s so fun!

Step Three –
Now, let’s play with some color! I’m all about color! Let’s click on the black and white circle at the bottom of your layers palette and select Color Balance. Make sure you have Midtones selected. Click on the top slider and slide it to the right about halfway towards Red. Then click on the middle slider and slide it slightly towards Green. Finally, click on the bottom slider and slide it towards Yellow just a bit. Click OK.

Step Four –
The last step is going to give our rich, vintage tone. Click on the black and white circle at the bottom of your layers palette and select Solid Color. Select a nice dark blue color. I used #081c2e. Click OK.

Step Five –
Now set your blending mode to Exclusion and the Opacity to around 65%. You can play around with the opacity to see what you like!

And that’s it! Now you’ve given your photo and fun little vintage twist! Now go try this out!
