It was January 2006, a year after receiving my graphic design degree. I found myself in Las Vegas at the Craft and Hobby Association’s annual winter trade show promoting the book (Color Made Easy) I had spent the last year of my life creating, designing, and redesigning, getting it ready for publication. I was in heaven! You see, I have a passion for preserving the memories I capture through the lens of my camera. So, after graduating from college, I set out to combine my two favorite passions: Design and Photography, by jumping into the scrapbooking industry.
A lot has changed in the last seven years (ahem, digital scrapbooking), and many of us are finding that creating traditional layouts is just too time consuming…myself included! I never seem to have the time I would like to sit down and make beautiful pages. The result, I’m sad to say, is years of photographs piling up on my hard drive. My husband and I will be celebrating our fourth wedding anniversary this December, and not one photo from the last four years has been documented in a book. I know, shame on me!
That’s about to change! When I discovered Becky Higgins’ Project Life system of scrapbooking, I was in love. Yes, in love!
Meet the new era of scrapbooking… It’s quick. It’s easy. And it takes all the stress out of documenting your memories. Right now! Not tomorrow, not next week, or next year when you have the time. Right now.

I reached out to Becky, and was ecstatic when she sent me the Midnight Edition to review. I love the simple color palette of the mango, gray, and black in this edition. It allows my photos to take center stage.
When I set out to create the layout you see below of my niece’s second birthday party, I had a goal. I wanted to see how fast I could finish, using only what was included in the kit. I mean, it couldn’t really be as easy as they say, right? Wrong. It literally took me five minutes to put these pages together. The hardest part was choosing which of the 500 journaling cards included in the kit I wanted to use! Talk about choices. What you see below is what you get. I didn’t use stamps. I didn’t use embellishments. The only thing I did was add a bit of white cardstock to the mango polka dot title card to emphasize the “Happy Birthday” a bit more.
I can’t wait to get those four years of photos off my hard drive and into my new album.
Project Life is so simple, just 5 ingredients:
- 12×12 Photo Album
- Project Life Core Kit
- Photo Pocket Pages
- Your Photos
- A Pen…that’s it!
Want to learn more, then you’re in for a treat!
Tomorrow, November 20, 2013, Becky will be joining forces with Creative Live to bring you three days of memory keeping education…
I am a PL kinda person too! I can’t wait to share our newest best kept secret-my son and daughter in-law are expecting their first child. I would love to document this using PL.
Project Life pins are everywhere on Pinterest lately and I didn’t have a clue what it was….now I do! This looks fantastic and a quick way to be creative too….say goodbye to my boring photo albums. I have a new niece that will be celebrating her baptism soon…this would be a perfect way to capture the memories and then give the album to her parents for Christmas!
I really need to do this!
I would love to record all my instagrams from this year. I have used Instagram as our daily life capturing, and now I need to do something with it.
What a Lovely Project!
This is a great way to make a whole album of memories!
PL means the world to my family. This coming year will be my 4th year documenting our everyday. For me being able to do this for my family has been the most wonderful gift & if I were to be so lucky in winning this awesome prize. I;d capture our annual family picture on the steps of our house on the 1st of Jan.This year will be extra special as we have a new sweet baby girl who was born at 27wks & is now thriving and growing. We feel so blessed! Thanks so much for the chance.
SO excited! With 3 kids under 4, and 2 jobs, I am falling behind in having hard copies of the pictures I take. I would love to use this gift so my children to see the beautiful pictures I have taken of them!
If I win this, I will chronicle our life as we settle in for three years of work in Kosovo. All those memories will be preserved and our four kids will be able to go through images and words to remember those days. What fun!
I would start with my granddaughters birthdays .. Move on to her volley ball games .. Annual family reunions going back 10 years … Any way I would love to see how this works .
Project life looks so easy to do! I also don’t have much time for traditional scrapbooking anymore, so this is a great solution!
I actually had stopped scrapbooking because life got so hectic! This looks like the perfect product to get me back on track. I had never heard of Project Life but I am heading to Becky’s website now to check it all out!
I have years worth of photos on my hard drive and on cd…but not where they should be, in albums to display! I’ve been saying lately that I need to hire someone to do this for me…and what a great start this would be!
I would love to scrapbook my children as they grew up. They are adults now but I have thousands of photos to scrap!
I’ve just begun my second PL album. I love this process! This is an awesome giveaway; one that I’d be thrilled to win!
I have niece’s getting married soon and I would love to use it to document those events along with my snazzy photography!
I am going to start my 1 year old’s baby book! Did I mention that I need to start one for my 4 year old as well? PL is the perfect solution for catching up quick!!
I’d love to use this to make yearbooks of each of the past 4 years (that’s how many photos are still on my hard drive!)
I would love this to document my new grandson growing up! Also for all the great snapshots of my Dad before he passed away.
this is so cool….
Wow! This looks Awesome! I have so many albums I could put together…but I probably would start with my Girls through the years! I have been wanting to finish putting their albums together for many many years now! The story of their lives…planning on giving to them when they get married…which, my oldest is 23 now so I really need to pick up the Pace! This system looks like its exactly what I need:)
Very cool idea. I used to scrap book, but stopped…..too time consuming. This looks pretty easy and fast!
I already have some of the project life stuff. It’s just so cute, you can’t help yourself. But I haven’t seen it used, so this should be great!
I would start with my high school memories made with my husband as teenagers.
The first memory I will record is of my daughter losing her tooth this week! 🙂
I love Project Life. I’m just getting started myself, but I’ve had my eye on it for a while now.
Lol…even though i’m totally behind on my 5 kids albums…I really want to document my starting my photography business to show my kids how important it is to dream and that it’s never too late to start!
I will go back in time and record some memories of my son’s childhood.
If I win this project life set I’ll probably start with Thanksgiving.
I would love to document all of my boys sports photos to show their growth.
i really need to do PL as i have over 20,000 photos from the last 15 years. this would be a great way to organize some of them.
I’ve been admiring Project Life kits since the first time I saw them. It looks like the perfect kind of scrapbooking. 🙂
Fantastic giveaway!!!! I shared alllllll over!!!
This sounds so interesting. I would love to try it.
My daughter is coming home for Thanksgiving from Dallas, TX. We’ll be photographing memories with family. Thanks for the chance to win.
Well, my 5 year-old got his first wobbly tooth today, complete with tears about losing his baby teeth and attempts to not go to school. I have a feeling this will be the milestone to coincide with his 6th birthday. This morning I got tearful myself when I thought of him losing a tooth!!
I have a 9 year old daughter that would love to help build a scrapbook! This would be the perfect project to do together!
I would love to win this!
I love PL for documenting the everyday!
I would create a memory of my daughter Karsyn if I won this Project Life set! She was my inspiration for becoming a photographer. She is my youngest ( and last ), and I wanted to learn how to take better photos of her. She has had a very rough last 2 years of life and she is only 3! I would love to use this to document all of the special photos we have taken of our precious little redhead and all the struggles we have overcame with her. Thanks!!
Would love to make PL books of each of my three grandchildren!
Thanks for the chance!
I would love to win this Project Life give a way!!! I have 11 grandchildren so it would be put to good use!!
I would record our holiday events.
I would love to do an album backdated for last year starting with my daughter’s birth. 🙂
I watched Becky’s CreativeLive presentation yesterday and am inspired. My first grandchild was born 4 weeks ago and this is a perfect way to start off his album.
I would start with my latest photos of my grandson and work backwards. He is nine so I am nine years behind! I really need this kit!
I would like to take some old family photos and make a keepsake album out of them.
my first memory to record will be my trip to memphis. my aunt, mom, sister and myself took this trip only to photograph beale street at night.
Would be great for our coming 10th anniversary coming early next year!!! We are going to Turkey!!!
I just love Project Life:)
I’d love to capture how excited two year old is to be potty trained!
My daughter is having her Bat Mitzvah and I would love to document her preparation and the event itself in a PL album.
Becky Higgins on Creative LIve was FANTASTIC!. I took so much away that my scrapbooking is fixing to change dramatically. I have put Project Life goodies on my Christmas wish list. Truly I will be like a kid at Christmas!!!
I would put together the pictures from this summer.
I love the idea of PL but I think I’ve been making my first two layouts way harder than it’s supposed to be. Time to get back to basics.
I like sorted my son’s preschool through 3rd grade memorabilia while watching/listening to Becky’s webcast last week.
I would definitely put together his memories while I remember them!
If I win I will use this kit to start 2014 off on a great note! I love this color combo!
I would love to win Project Life!
Such an amazing concept!! I currently have a project life album, but I REALLY want to get my daughter one, she’d LOVE it!!
Found you via Becky Higgins FB post tonight 😉
Can’t wait to PL Christmas!
Would probably be the road trip of my move from Florida to Washington State.
I would start by documenting my baby’s first year.
I am ready to start my 2014 album!
I would record all the memories of the birth of my one month old daughter.
Our summer travels, of course! We visited NYC for the first time and fell in love.
d
I’d love to win! My 2014 album will start with my trip to India in January. Thanks!
I just recently discovered Project Life and can’t wait to get started on documenting my story! It takes the stress out of scrapbooking!
I love how easy this looks! Thanks for the opportunity!
Oops, I did the comment wrong – I would love to capture our recent trip to Italy – lots of photos!
I’m wanting to make a baby book using Project Life, so the first memory I would record would be when we found out I was pregnant with our son.
I just found out about Becky and Project Life, I’m so excited to get started, I have 21 years of photos to choose from!
I would so love the PL prize! I’m in the process of getting caught up on our family albums so my girls can actually look at our photos!! I’m at 2008, and I am going to start using Project Life at this point I’m SO excited about PL!!
I love PL so much! Its bringing that huge 12×12 down to mini layouts which is so much easier for me. I can do as little as I want or if I am feeling a bit more creative I can still embellish! Can’t say enough!
I want to go back and finally scrapbook my high school trip to France (1994 or 1995), so many memories and I’ve been putting it off because I could never find the right way to do it, there is so much ephemera that I want to be able to pull out and look at & couldn’t find a traditional scrapbook that allowed me to include it
I would LOVE to win one!! I’m wanting the heritage edition to put together and give to my grandma with all of her old photos that are stuffed in shoe boxes around her house!
I would scrapbook this past year first then get caught up going backwards. Thank you for this chance.
Love to try Project Life – looks fun and so simple to make.
I can’t get enough of Project Life! I loved watching Becky’s Creative Live segment too 🙂
I want to record memories from my trip to Paris in 2010!
I will use it for my everyday life! Since discovering Project Life I take photos everyday. Not just on holidays or at family get together. I love it!!
Well, my triplets are already 6 and only have a handful of traditionally scrapped pages! I definitely need quick and easy to get caught up these last 6 crazy years!!!
I’m a traditional scrapbooker who cannot wait to get into project life for documenting the every day!!! I’ve just started delving in. I love it!!!
Wow if I won this I would document the last few weeks I have shared with my 89 year old grandmother 🙂 thank-you!
I would start at the beginning, my birth and work my way through all my old photos (in boxes) to the present. Have not tried Project Life. Think it may be time to start.
I love this whole concept and can’t wait to get started!!!! I’d love to win! Thanks for the opportunity and for sharing.
I have years and years worth of photos to document yet, but I’d really like to go back and do a wedding album for myself. Our photos are in a photo album but there are no stories written. And though I might not be able to remember many since it was 17 years ago, I’d still like to get them into a PL album. Thanks for the chance!
Love this!
I have been traditionally scrapbooking for about 8 years. Recently I realized that I am so backed up it would take me years to get caught up. My son is 11 years old and I’m working on his baby album. I started reading about Project Life and was able to watch Becky Higgin’s CreativeLive broadcast. I think this system is wonderful – takes you back to basics to emphasis the important things about scrapbooking, the pictures & thoughts behind them. Your giveaway would be a welcome addition to my just starting out collection of Project Life!
LOVE project life! Hoping to start and finish a Heritage scrapbook with it soon!
The very first thing I would document if I won would definitely be the things my toddler comes out with – priceless! Thanks for the chance to win. 🙂
My first grandson was born recently after having 4 granddaughters so I am pretty excited to start an album with him as the main focus. I would love to win this wonderful package of goodies! Thanks for the chance!
I would capture the pure joy of the holidays through my kids eyes!! I love PL!!!
I love project life and can’t wait to start my first album! I want to document my kindergartners school memories!
Project Life is such an attractive way to quickly handle photos and documentation! Thanks for the chance to win a set here!
I love recording all the everyday things, but would really love to get all my pictures from my Caribbean vacation into a PL album!! So fun and so simple!
I Love Becky Higgins and Project Life!
I would love to document our next year as a family using a new Project Life kit!! Love it!
I love project life! I just started this year and it’s my favorite way to scrapbook and document life. So happy to have found it!
If I win (crossing fingers), the PL book would be put to good use for my new grandson’s first year! Thanks.
The first memory I would record would be the day my hubs and I got married!
I watched the 3-day Creative Live presentation by Becky Higgins in awe. I’d never heard of her before or Project Life even though I’ve been mesmerized by and aspired to do scrapbooking since I was 8 years old. In my lifetime, I’ve only ever completed a good 1 or 2 scrapbook layouts. I’m the type that’s SUPER creative and SUPER inspired by other creatives, but lack the time, discipline and focus to get anything done with my scrapbooking goals–it’s just TOO time consuming to create anything that even compares to what I see in magazines or that’s worthy of being shown off…or so I thought until I watched Becky’s CL presentation.
I was so excited about the concept of PL that I watched the rebroadcasts over and over, and ordered my first PL album, core kit, corner rounder and some other accessories. I have gotten married, started a photography business and had two precious girls over the last 7 years, but don’t have a single photo in an album or scrapbook. Only piles and piles of photos in boxes in the closet. Awful, I know. But I’m now inspired and overly excited to change that.
My PL shipment actually just came in today, which is currently waiting for me at the UPS store. I am scanning photos as we speak so that as soon as I get my hands on those PL supplies, I can get these years worth of memories in an album and on display in our home. The album I’ve just ordered will be current photos of my 3 year old and 7 year old girls, but I have enough photos to also complete their baby books, do a wedding album, and more.
If I were to win this contest, I would do a “this is how much your mother loves you” album of myself with my girls: I want them to know that their mother is NOT perfect, very scattered at times, very creative mostly, and lives for our family. I, with all my imperfections, am just me and that they should celebrate who they are because they have a mother that loves them more than life–don’t we all, though! I do want my girls to have photos of me and with me in them instead of always ending up behind the camera. Becky has made me realize how important photos of me will be to them one day and I now see how important it is to get started on that NOW. With PL, it does seem feasible to do so, and to preserve those memories today so that the ones I love the most reap the rewards in the future.
I want to make a baby book for my son!
First pictures I would put in Project Life are my 300+ photos of my trip to Guatemala last year. They’re sitting in the photo lab envelopes.
We had a family reunion this summer, the kids met their cousins for the first time. I really want to scrapbook that!
I just lost the hard drive with all our pictures — whatever gets recovered will go to Project Life.
Awesome sauce!!! Thanks for a “shot” at winning some PL goodies! 😉
I am actually going to be starting my own PL album soon, can’t wait!
LOVE Project Life!!
LOVE Project Life! I’m working on my son’s albums right now and I have a LOT left to do!
My first one will be the birth of our youngest daughters first child 🙂
Super excited to give Project Life a shot in the new year.
After Creative Live, I can finally tackle the album of my childhood. Thank you, Becky!
Love PL! I’m expecting in a few weeks and can’t wait to find the gender of this little one to get another baby album going! So thankful how easy it was to make my last one’s!!!
Getting married & our honeymoon!
I have been putting photos in shutterfly photo albums to just get them out of my camera and into a book. I have 2012 to do and would love to use project life for it. Hope I win, thanks for the opportunity!
I would love to record my vacation in Hawaii! Those are definitely the first pictures I plan on putting in my album.
I just discovered PL a few weeks ago and am “converting” my 2013 year in photos into a PL set, instead of the digital scrapbook I had been working on. I am a traditional scrapbooker at heart and am very excited about this system. If I win this, I would prepare it for my 2014 photo a day album and be ready to journal through out the year.
The first pictures I would put into Project Life would be the photos of my two boys growing up. Thanks for the chance.
I have been seeing this product highlighted all over the web lately, cant wait to try it!
