It was January 2006, a year after receiving my graphic design degree. I found myself in Las Vegas at the Craft and Hobby Association’s annual winter trade show promoting the book (Color Made Easy) I had spent the last year of my life creating, designing, and redesigning, getting it ready for publication. I was in heaven! You see, I have a passion for preserving the memories I capture through the lens of my camera. So, after graduating from college, I set out to combine my two favorite passions: Design and Photography, by jumping into the scrapbooking industry.

A lot has changed in the last seven years (ahem, digital scrapbooking), and many of us are finding that creating traditional layouts is just too time consuming…myself included! I never seem to have the time I would like to sit down and make beautiful pages. The result, I’m sad to say, is years of photographs piling up on my hard drive. My husband and I will be celebrating our fourth wedding anniversary this December, and not one photo from the last four years has been documented in a book. I know, shame on me!

That’s about to change! When I discovered Becky Higgins’ Project Life system of scrapbooking, I was in love. Yes, in love!

Meet the new era of scrapbooking… It’s quick. It’s easy. And it takes all the stress out of documenting your memories. Right now! Not tomorrow, not next week, or next year when you have the time. Right now.

I reached out to Becky, and was ecstatic when she sent me the Midnight Edition to review. I love the simple color palette of the mango, gray, and black in this edition. It allows my photos to take center stage.

When I set out to create the layout you see below of my niece’s second birthday party, I had a goal. I wanted to see how fast I could finish, using only what was included in the kit. I mean, it couldn’t really be as easy as they say, right? Wrong. It literally took me five minutes to put these pages together. The hardest part was choosing which of the 500 journaling cards included in the kit I wanted to use! Talk about choices. What you see below is what you get. I didn’t use stamps. I didn’t use embellishments. The only thing I did was add a bit of white cardstock to the mango polka dot title card to emphasize the “Happy Birthday” a bit more.

I can’t wait to get those four years of photos off my hard drive and into my new album.

Project Life is so simple, just 5 ingredients:

  1. 12×12 Photo Album
  2. Project Life Core Kit
  3. Photo Pocket Pages
  4. Your Photos
  5. A Pen…that’s it!

Want to learn more, then you’re in for a treat!

Tomorrow, November 20, 2013, Becky will be joining forces with Creative Live to bring you three days of memory keeping education…
