I LOVE visiting McCall, Idaho. A small tourist community, nestled in the rugged mountains of central Idaho, with spectacular views of a pristine lake surrounded by majestic pine trees. It truly is a step back in time, with a slower pace and a laid back lifestyle.
I look forward every summer to the Vintage Boat Show held at the beautiful Shore Lodge Marina. It’s this photographer’s dream to shoot these classic boats! The detailing and care that went into restoring these beauties is amazing…and this year I had my new 50mm lens to capture it all!
Nikon D60 | 50 mm lens | f/14 | 1/160 sec. | ISO-200
Nikon D60 | 50 mm lens | f/2.8 | 1/4000 sec. | ISO-200
Nikon D60 | 50 mm lens | f/2.8 | 1/2000 sec. | ISO-200
After experimenting with the depth of field possibilities of the 50 mm lens, I switched over to my 55-200 mm lens. I like the flexibility of focal lengths this lens can give me. I can get shots that would otherwise be impossible.

Nikon D60 | 55-200 mm lens at 55 mm | f/14 | 1/200 sec. | ISO-200
Nikon D60 | 55-200 mm lens at 55 mm | f/4 | 1/1600 sec. | ISO-200
Nikon D60 | 55-200 mm lens at 86 mm | f/4.5 | 1/1600 sec. | ISO-200
Here’s a shot my Dad captured of me in my element! *It’s a video-still, so don’t judge too hard!
Nikon D60 | 55-200 mm lens at 200 mm | f/5.6 | 1/500 sec. | ISO-200
Nikon D60 | 55-200 mm lens at 100 mm | f/4.5 | 1/1000 sec. | ISO-200
After a fun-filled day in the sun, one of my favorite things to do is grab a melon flavored shaved ice on my way to the beach and relax as I watch the boats sail by.

The best part about shooting classic boats is the post-processing opportunities! I love to take my photos into Photoshop and edit them to look as if they could be taken in the era the boats were made. The finishing touch to this process is, of course the addition of a photo texture. It’s like icing on the cake!
