As Michelle wrote yesterday, we had the opportunity to participate in Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk in our hometown this last Saturday. We had an absolute blast! Here’s the group, before we headed out for the morning (shot by our group leader, Paul).
And here’s what I saw through the lens of my camera…
I gave myself a little challenge when we first started out, to capture the life of the city. I wasn’t sure how I was going to accomplish this, but when we were lucky enough to stumble upon the Capitol City Farmer’s Market, I knew I had hit the jackpot! This was the perfect opportunity to capture the hometown feel of our city.
I was super excited when this first shot played out. At first, what caught my eye was this beautiful array of vegetables laying out on the table. Then, as I was composing the shot, a woman walked up to the table browsing through the selection of fruits and veggies. As I was about to press the shutter button, another woman walked over and started chatting…perfection! Now that’s what a hometown farmer’s market is all about.
There’s just so much character to be found in the alleyways of a city.
I love how the colors in this photo compliment each other, from the bright green in the dumpster to the color of the girl’s hair and clothing.
There were festivities of all kinds. Michelle and I were drawn to this man’s bagpipe playing. He was hanging out at the outskirts of the market, but we could hear him a block away. We followed the sounds and captured several photos of him in the beautiful morning light.
And of course, when I came across this mural, I had to shoot it…I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to photograph a classic car!
So tell me, which one is your favorite?
