These photos feature Photo Veils from the Botanical and Illumination Collections. I often select just a few veils in order to keep a consistent look for a collection of photos.

I shot this first photo perched on the edge of the canyon as the sun peaked over the rim in the distance. The sky had a warm peach glow contrasted against the brightening blue sky. I chose Veils that would enhance those colors, also darkening the edges of the composition to bring the eye towards the winding road and the flowing waterfall.

The sun-soaked canyon wall drew me into this composition. This was just such a fun experience overlooking the canyon at sunrise. A beautiful morning enjoying beautiful scenery… what more can a photographer ask for!

This. This is why I love photographing waterfalls! Capturing movement in the water; the warm, rich colors of the rocks; and the bright, vibrant greens that spring up around these gorgeous acts of nature. This is what draws me in.

Finding all the textures and colors a little too busy in the original version of this photo, I decided to crop in a little tighter and turn it black and white. This puts focus on the elegance of the waterfall, an interesting contrast against the rugged rock backdrop.

Nature definitely has a way of painting with color, doesn’t it? Check out all of the different colors found so close to the base of this waterfall… browns, blacks, oranges, and vibrant greens. My goal with this image was to capture all of this beautiful palette in one image.

And lastly, my favorite. The delicate, mist-covered grass in the foreground leading the eye toward the powerful force of the water impacting the rocks, leading you out to the sun-soaked creek bed beyond.
