There’s something magical that happens to the landscape this time of year when the leaves start to change and the colors turn a vibrant golden color. There’s a place in Idaho where these colors come alive in the fall. The Palisades in Eastern Idaho is lined by two mountain ranges that give it a unique look. I just love the different colors found along the hillsides, especially this time of year!

I was drawn to the sunlight shining through the tops of these trees, contrasted by the dark twisted branches. They were just begging to be photographed… so I obliged.

While photographing the golden light shining through the tips of the trees, I noticed this sweet little creek making it’s way through the scene, and the little touches of Autumn with the fallen leaves sprinkled over the rocks.

We were lucky to happen upon these fisherman at the water’s edge. Since the sun was high in the sky, it created a contrast-filled scene where I was able to capture a silhouette of the two fisherman.

Just behind the fisherman in the previous photo, I noticed this grouping of golden trees sparkling in the sunlight. I darkened the background a bit more in order to create a little more separation between the trees. But, as much as I tried, I wasn’t finding the beautiful golden color that I set out to find. So we found our way back to the highway in search of some more color en masse.

Then we happened upon a gold mine of brilliant golden color along the hillside that lined the reservoir. This scene called for some drone footage, and I’m so glad we had a full charge because the video we captured is exactly what I set out to capture in this Photo Adventure!

We were treated to a surprise flyover by some very cool jets. I heard them coming, aimed the lens at the sky, and shot away, hoping for some photos that were in focus… and I had one! This was such a fun surprise and a fun addition to our Photo Adventure!

This photo has “Autumn in Idaho” written all over it. The rugged terrain, spotted with evergreens and sprinkled with beautiful vibrant fall color.

This beautiful golden hillside meadow drew me in. I love how the grasses draw your eye into the scene with a dark green backdrop of evergreen pines.

This is a quintessential fall-time shot. The gorgeous golden color contrasting with the brilliant white Aspen trunks. This is quite possibly my favorite fall-time photo that I’ve taken. It just goes to show you that there are beautiful sights to see not too far off the beaten path… in fact, sometimes it’s just a short stop on the side of the road.
