In this Photo Adventure, we hunt for wildflowers in the beautiful Northern Idaho mountain landscape, Coeur d’Alene, to be specific. Join us on this 2+ mile hike as we find everything from dainty pink wildflowers to birds and even para-sailors! I’ll also show you how I add a touch of magic to the photos I capture with Photo Veils. You’ll want to stay to the very end to enjoy the most gorgeous golden-soaked sunset over the lake. It’s truly one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen! Enjoy…

One of the first flowers we stumbled upon while beginning our hike, this pink little beauty stopped me in my tracks. I used the rustic stone surface of the rocks behind it to give the photo a nice bokeh (blurred) background, directing focus to the flower and the leaves surrounding it.  I used Photo Veils from the Simplicity, Botanical and Illumination Collections. Below, you’ll see the before photo with some foundation editing in Camera Raw, and the after photo includes the addition of Photo Veils. Slide the slider to the left to reveal the entire edited photo.

These sweet little beauties were just begging to be photographed! As I bent down to compose this shot, I could imagine creating the sun-filled scene you see in the edited version below. I created this effect using Photo Veils from the Illumination Collection. These are my go-to veils when I want to enhance the natural light I capture in my photos. I also added a few veils from the Botanical Collection as well. Check out the before and after photos below…

Some of the same flowers I captured above, but photographed in a different way. This time I used the greenery around the blooms to create a beautiful bokeh background for these little guys to take center stage. I warmed the tones and enhanced the natural light through the use of Photo Veils from the Simplicity and Illumination Collections. Check out the difference between the before and after images…

These Lupine wildflowers were fun to photograph! I love the wispy spikes of grass giving movement to the background. This photo features Photo Veils from the Simplicity and Illumination Collections.

And what a beautiful pathway this is to stumble upon! There wasn’t a lot of sunlight on the backside of the hill, so with the addition of Photo Veils from the Illumination Collection, I was able to add a sun-soaked feel that just makes this photo magical! I also used Privet and Whisper from the Simplicity and Botanical Collections to add an overall warmth to the photo.

This last photo captures the scene beautifully! What a gorgeous reward to find at the end of this two mile hike. It sounds like quite the journey, but with all the photo breaks we took, it was just a purely enjoyable hike. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
