We all have them. Those elusive photos we want to get for years, but somehow they always seem to evade us. Well, in this Photo Adventure, I finally capture a photo I’ve wanted to get for ages! We’re in the mountains of Idaho, on Highway 55, near Smith’s Ferry.

Join us as we venture along the highway, with views of the gorgeous Payette River, and see how I capture my Bucket List Photo, as well as a few other wintery shots of the beautiful Idaho Mountains!

Our first stop was on the edge of the Payette River with a beautiful view of the flowing water. What struck me about this location was the contrast between the elegant flowing water and the rugged, snow-covered rocks surrounding it. I first got a zoomed-in view of the river, then a wider-angle shot of the overall scene. I love how these two photos together tell a story of the rough winters of the remote Idaho mountains.

The following photos feature Photo Veils from the Botanical and Illumination Collections. Check out the before and after photos below (before photos include foundation edits, after photos show the addition of Photo Veils).

And this, guys, is my Bucket List Shot! Without a doubt, a super fun experience to finally get this photo that I’ve wanted for years. Dubbed the “World’s Shortest Train Tunnel,” this view would fascinate me as a kid, as we drove by it along the highway. I would look out the car window and imagine an old historic steam engine trudging its way along the tracks. Super fun!

A Photo Adventure along Highway 55 wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the Rainbow Bridge, originally named the North Fork Bridge.

It was built in 1933 with emergency relief funds, a $74,000 expense at the time, with a design that compliments its natural setting. It’s listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and, unlike other bridges of this age, has not been altered over the years. This is my first time photographing it, and it was also such a fun experience!
